What Squire is

Squire is a privacy-first indoor awareness sensor. It understands presence, movement, and changes in daily behavior, all without using a camera.Instead of relying on a single motion trigger, Squire combines radar, depth sensing, and on-device combined-logic to understand what’s actually happening in a space.

It can tell when someone enters, leaves, rests, paces, or stops moving, and when those patterns change over time. All sensing happens locally. No video is captured. No audio is directly recorded. Nothing is watched.Squire is designed for people who want awareness and peace of mind without surveillance.

What Squire Can DO

  • Detect when someone enters, leaves, or remains in a room

  • Understand sustained presence, rest, pacing, or inactivity

  • Notice changes in daily movement patterns over time

  • Distinguish normal behavior from unusual or concerning deviations

  • Operate continuously without cameras or video recording

  • Optional camera module with a physical shutter — strictly opt-in

  • Preserve privacy while still providing reliable awareness

who squire is for (and what it solves)

Squire is for people who need awareness, not surveillance. It’s designed for:

  • Adult children who want to know a loved one is okay without installing cameras

  • Caregivers who need reliable activity insight without false alarms

  • Homes and care environments where privacy, dignity, and trust matter

The real problem Squire solves isn’t just “detection". Many existing products are already very capable of detecting motion. What Squire solves is uncertainty.

  • Did someone get up today?

  • Did they return to bed normally?

  • Has something changed in their routine?

  • Is this inactivity expected.....or a concern?

Squire answers these questions using on-device sensor fusion, not video feeds or microphones. No live monitoring. No recordings. Just meaningful signals when something actually changes. If that balance matters to you, you’ll want to follow this project.

Why Squire Is Different

Most indoor sensors react to a single signal. One motion. One reflection. One threshold crossed. While that approach can work, the lack of redundancy or means to confirm or deny a signal or event is inherently fragile.Squire works differently by combining multiple sensing methods and looks for agreement between them. Instead of reacting to one isolated event, Squire cross-references what it sees across sensors to build a clearer picture of what’s actually happening in a space.A movement only matters if other signals support it. A change only matters if it persists across time. Noise is ignored unless it becomes meaningful. This approach dramatically reduces false alerts, improves reliability, and allows Squire to notice real changes in behavior, not just activity. It’s better judgment, built directly into the device.

Built for home monitoring + Care & Assisted Living

While Squire works well for home awareness, it’s especially valuable in care and assisted living environments. Residents don’t move in simple ways. They rest, pace, sit, sleep, and change routines, often unpredictably. Single sensor systems tend to over alert, miss slow changes, or require constant tuning.Squire’s combined-logic sensing helps staff stay aware of what matters:

  • Prolonged inactivity

  • Unusual pacing or restlessness

  • Deviations from normal daily patterns

For care teams, Squire can roll up room-level signals into a simple status view. Instead of individual alerts, staff see at-a-glance awareness across a wing or floor — highlighting rooms that may need attention while letting normal activity fade into the background. No live feeds. No constant alarms. When it does alert an event, you have high confidence it's real - reduced alert fatigue.
